Beef broth is very healthy and you can either drink it as it is or it can be used as a basic ingredient in soups and sauces. Making it yourself is very easy, especially if you have a slow cooker. Of course you can also make it in a cast iron pan. Use a simmer plate to diffuse the heat.

Cut the vegetables into fairly large pieces.

Put the vegetable pieces into a Crock Pot or slow cooker.

Place the beef bones on top of the vegetables and add the bay leaf.

Sprinkle with the vinegar and salt.

Add just enough water so that the bones are covered.

Set the Crock Pot to 8-10 hours on the lowest heat.

When the broth is ready, sieve it in a fine sieve and only save the liquid.

You can either fill glass jars or deep freeze bags to store or freeze the beef broth.

If the beef broth is too greasy place it in the fridge overnight and scrape the solidified fat off the surface (but be aware of the fact that the fat contains many nutrients that are good for you!).
