Beets, I can't live without them anymore and I always have them at home. These beautiful red tubers make my life so much more fun! Not only are they very beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. They give my skin the boost that I can use when it looks dull and gray and I have some bumps. How might you wonder, I'll tell you! The beetroot is very healthy, it is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, iron, nitrates and minerals. Each of these have a beneficial effect on the body. For example, antioxidants detoxify the liver and purify the blood. The latter is ideal when your skin is restless. Before I switched to a vegan diet, I had a lot of blemished skin. I have actually tried everything about creams, treatments and special treatments. Nothing helped. Until my beautician recommended not eating sugar and drinking (animal) milk for a week. I initially thought she was crazy (I really didn't see a connection between food and my skin at the time, luckily I now know better.) But desperate times call for desperate measures and still persisted that week. How amazed I was by the result. My skin really looked calmer! From that moment on I really started to delve into the relationship between food and body. I typed in healthy diet acne and the first few results referred me to beetroot, the acne antidote .. my love for beet was born! I prefer to eat beets raw. The taste is purer and I have to be honest, I hate to peel boiled beets (everything is red after that). So I started looking for recipes in which I could process raw beets and beet juice became my favorite. Now every day I drink a glass of freshly squeezed beet juice with ginger and fruit that is in season at that time. The last three weeks I prefer to drink my beet juice with watermelon. I was looking for a sweet kind of fruit that would dominate the intense beet taste so that my daughter could and would like to drink it. Watermelon turned out to be a bull's eye, a small beet mixed with a carrot and she drinks a lot of watermelon! Of course I taste everything before I give it to her and guys, I was instantly in love! This combination is so deliciously fresh and sweet, really worth a try!
