Spicy deer stew with cranberries

Although it is usually eaten around the holidays, deer is of course also suitable for any other day of the year. Thanks to the fresh cranberries, cherries and cinnamon, this is a wonderfully warming yet fruity dish.

Dice the meat.

Cut the onion into half rings, press the garlic, crumble the bay leaves and slice the carrots.

Heat the coconut oil in a casserole and gently fry onions and garlic.

Fry the carrots and then add the deer, cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, cranberries, cherries and broth (or water).

Gently bring to the boil and cover the pan with a lid. Put the pan on very low heat and let the dish simmer gently in 4 hours.

Season with some salt and pepper and garnish with fresh thyme.
