Peel the sweet potato and cut the flesh into cubes of 0.5 inch.
Cook the sweet potatoes for 5 minutes. (don't cook them any longer, since the potatoes are not supposed to be cooked thoroughly).
Place large wooden satay skewers in a bowl of water.
Mix all the ingredients for the spice mixture in a small bowl.
Cut the chicken breasts into cubes, and the onion into quarters (take the onion apart) and put them apart from each other in a container.
Pour half the herb mixture over the chicken fillet and stir well.
Put the sweet potato in a bowl and pour the remaining herb mixture over the sweet potato and onion.
Put the chicken fillet, sweet potato and onions to the wooden skewers.
Heat a grill pan over medium heat and fry them until light brown and cooked.
